Emergency Youth Shelter Our Youth Shelter provides emergency, short-term care for youth needing placement outside of the home. Shelter is a non-secure setting and youth are placed for a number of reasons:
- Youth who are experiencing mental health issues
- Situations where the youth’s health and safety may be compromised
- Problems at home or school
- Delinquent behaviors
- Runaway behavior
- Homelessness
- Struggling with a variety of different circumstances
The Iowa Department of Human Services licenses the Shelter.
